Applying CBR to manage argumentation in MAS
نویسندگان
چکیده
The application of argumentation theories and techniques in multi-agent systems has become a prolific area of research. Argumentation allows agents to harmonize two types of disagreement situations: internal, when the acquisition of new information (e.g. about the environment or about other agents) produces incoherences in the agents’ mental state; and external, when agents that have different positions about a topic engage in a discussion. The focus of this paper is on the latter type of disagreement situations. In those settings, agents must be able to generate, select and send arguments to other agents that will evaluate them in their turn. An efficient way for agents to manage these argumentation abilities is by using case-based reasoning, which has been successfully applied to argumentation from its earliest beginnings. This reasoning methodology also allows agents to learn from their experiences and therefore, to improve their argumentation skills. This paper analyses the advantages of applying case-based reasoning to manage arguments in multi-agent systems dialogues, identifies open issues and proposes new ideas to tackle them.

Empirical Argumentation: Integrating Induction and Argumentation in MAS
This paper presents an approach that integrates notions and techniques from two distinct fields of study —namely inductive learning and argumentation in multiagent systems (MAS). We will first discuss inductive learning and the role argumentation plays in multiagent inductive learning. Then we focus on how inductive learning can be used to realize argumentation in MAS based on empirical grounds...
متن کاملaCGH-MAS: Analysis of aCGH by means of Multiagent System
There are currently different techniques, such as CGH arrays, to study genetic variations in patients. CGH arrays analyze gains and losses in different regions in the chromosome. Regions with gains or losses in pathologies are important for selecting relevant genes or CNVs (copy-number variations) associated with the variations detected within chromosomes. Information corresponding to mutations...
متن کاملLearning, Information Exchange, and Joint-Deliberation through Argumentation in Multi-agent Systems
Case-Based Reasoning (CBR) can give agents the capability of learning from their own experience and solve new problems, however, in a multi-agent system, the ability of agents to collaborate is also crucial. In this paper we present an argumentation framework (AMAL) designed to provide learning agents with collaborative problem solving (joint deliberation) and information sharing capabilities (...

متن کاملCo-argumentation Artifact for Agent Societies
In a social context, people have a partial knowledge about the world and use arguments in order to solve problems, to reduce conflicts, or to exchange information. Argumentation is a dialogic process, and could occur through direct interaction, or through supports of some sorts—like blackboards, or electronic fora. The same holds for intelligent agents in MAS (multi-agent system), where however...
